Fermi Observations of GeV Emission from Gamma-Ray Bursts
Brenda Dingus, LANL
Recent Fermi observations of GRBs show that GRB emission
extends to nearly 100 GeV and no cut off in the high energy power law is
observed. In fact, several GRBs exhibit a second high energy spectral
component with a very hard spectrum. This high energy emission implies
bulk Lorentz factors of the outflow of nearly 1000 and provide strong
tests of the violation of Lorentz invariance. These observations also
point to the potential for ground based observations of GRBs with the
High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory.
